You didn’t think that we were already done with San Francisco, did you? Oh no, we had planned some serious exploring of the city for today. We started the day off by driving around San Francisco for a good 2 hours. There’s a route called ‘Scenic 49 Mile Drive’ which takes you around most of the important views and attractions. It’s very extensive, so we [Weiterlesen]
(Gabi) To say today was a glorious day is a massive understatement. Aki commented on how unusually nice the weather was and it made for an amazing SF adventure. As mentioned in the previous post, we had spent the morning in the Disney Family Museum. Going in we knew there was going to be a picnic on the lawn next to the museum. But we [Weiterlesen]
(Gabi) Thomas and I are massive Disney fans so when a friend recommended visiting the Disney Family museum in San Francisco’s Presidio we were all ears! The Presidio is a stunning former military base at the northern tip of the San Francisco Peninsula. The whole area is rather posh and very green and leafy. And there’s loads of fun military things like this canon. When [Weiterlesen]
(Gabi) Today we were wide awake at 5 am. That never ever happens to me. I tried to go back to sleep but my body was having none of it. Because at home it was 2 pm already. So we spent 4 hours blogging and eating cinnamon bun Oreos (OMG you guys, those alone are worth the trip!). Thankfully, Target opened at 9 am. We [Weiterlesen]
(Gabi) Yay, we’ve arrived. On Friday we flew to San Francisco from Zurich with Swiss airlines. 12 hour flight. I think I’ve hit my upper limit when it comes to hours I’m willing to spend on a plane! My lovely Dad drove us to the airport which is about 90 minutes away from our place. Comfy relaxed drive! Sadly, we were soon informed that our [Weiterlesen]
On 6 May 2016, we’ll travel to California. That’s why our travel blog got a new ‘stars and stripes’ outfit. We’re looking forward very much to visiting cities, theme parks, the sea, film locations, nature and friends. We try to keep you updated daily. We start in San Francisco and do a round trip with the four focal points shown on the map. We make [Weiterlesen]

As for every trip to the UK, this one ends with eating the donuts we’ve brought along at Gabi’s mother’s house. Photos: before / after. (My workmates at the office got two boxes as well.)
We leave our hotel at 9.30 am and head to the nearest Pret-à-Manger to get some food for our journey. We then drive eastbound and through Blackwall Tunnel underneath the Thames out of the city. It’s Sunday morning and the roads are almost empty so we make very good progress. We arrive at the Eurotunnel’s Folkestone terminal on time. Check-in and border controls are a [Weiterlesen]
In the evening, we headed to Tower Pier. The City Swiss Club London has invited us to a river cruise on the Thames with dinner and dance in celebration of the new Lord Mayor. The party takes place on the replica of a Mississippi steamboat. Roughly 200 people, many of them Swiss citizens living in the UK, participate in it. It’s quite strange that over [Weiterlesen]
