As it’s raining today, we drive to Westfield Stratford City Shopping Centre. It’s nice and dry there. 😉 And they have branches of most of the stores we’re interested in, as well as a huge selection of restaurants and a multiplex cinema. Here, you can find things like monster trucks in the entrance of a clothing store. Why not! If you shop hard, you need [Weiterlesen]
We sleep in and then meet our lovely friend Ollie for lunch: a Sunday roast at Hawksmoor! It’s the first time we sit in the back part of the restaurant with its beautiful rounded ceiling. The tables fill up quickly. A blackboard shows the really heavy pieces of meat available today: Porterhouse 900 grams, T-Bone steak 1,1 kilograms, Rib-Eyes, Chateaubriand and some more of each [Weiterlesen]
Today’s weather: windy – it shows! But the scarves Aki knitted for us keeps as warm and cosy and are just the right thing for this weather. 🙂 Today, we’re walking around Covent Garden and our first stop – as usual – is our favourite Sci Fi store, Forbidden Planet. They’re launching a lot of Rick and Morty merchandise. I’m holding back and only buy [Weiterlesen]
We sleep in a little bit today. It’s what we needed after yesterday’s long journey. We later drive to Oxford Street and browse through the stores. The Disney Store is already all about the upcoming Star Wars film and promoting the penguin-like Porg quite a lot. They will wait under a lot of Christmas trees for sure. Christmas is a big theme at Selfridges too, [Weiterlesen]
We leave home shortly after half past ten and make good progress. In Switzerland at least. Road work season seems to have begun in France. Construction site after construction site, with one lane traffic only and reduced speed limit. Driving at 90 km/h for so long prolonges our journey quite a bit and we only arrive in Calais 45 minutes later than usual. Luckily we [Weiterlesen]

The day after our return, we always visit Gabi’s mom and eat the box of Krispy Kream donuts that we have taken to Switzerland. Yesterday, they were already sold out when we got to our usual place. And in spite of stopping at every service station to look for our donuts, we failed to buy some. So they will have to make do with just [Weiterlesen]
We start early to catch our train. After yesterday’s terror attacks in London, there’s a lot of police around and some of the London bridges are closed. Unfortunately, our satnav app still wants to guide us over them. In the end, we have to make quite a detour and cross Blackwall Tunnel to get to the southern side of the Thames and in the direction [Weiterlesen]
On our last day in London, we visit the Design Museum. The new Range Rover Velar recently premiered in its entrance hall. The museum hosts all kind of design objects and gives insights into their backgrounds: Street signs, shoes, chairs, and much more. They also have a lot of Apple devices. 🙂 I particularly like the huge wall with the evolution of cameras, game consoles, [Weiterlesen]
We go on another shopping trip today, to Oxford Street. We make good progress and arrive at Selfridges soon. You could spend a whole day in this department store alone! But we advance well in here and soon find ourselves on the top floor having lunch. From all the variety of food on offer we choose… Gabi: a Nutella crèpe 🙂 Thomie: Sushi and an [Weiterlesen]
