We visit the Victoria & Albert Museum with their large collection of old and new things and design objects from all over the world. It’s great to be back in London! Our hotel is situated opposite the British Library and near St Pancras station (the beautiful building at the back of the photo). I get my favourite breakfast from the Pret, a ham and cheese croissant. Freshly strengthened we drive to the Spitalfield Market. Shortly after 10am, everything is stowed in the car and we drive off. Once again we are on our way to England! We’re looking forward to a few hopefully quiet and relaxing days. As always upon returning from the UK, we take a box of donuts home and share them with Gabi’s mother and sister.

I go and get breakfast from Pret a last time, and food for the journey home, and enjoy the view of St Pancras station. We drive off at 8.40am… only to get stuck in traffic almost immediately. As we don’t really advance anymore, we try an alternate route, but without luck. All roads that lead to the expressway along the Thames are blocked due to [Weiterlesen]

No travel to London would be complete without a visit to Piccadilly Circus. That’s what we do on our last day of our holiday trip. The huge screen is still really impressive. The sun is shining again today and it’s even warmer – or hot for British weather. It’s a bank holiday today which means that lots of people get to enjoy the beautiful day. We drive to Greenwich in the southeastern part of London. There’s a huge park around the Royal Observatory where the Greenwich Meridian and the Greenwich Mean Time were set, stretching down to [Weiterlesen]

We sleep in a bit today before heading to Waitrose in our former neighbourhood. The lady at the till probably thought whether we really only live on crisps and chocolate… but was too polite to ask. The stock we buy should last for half a year hopefully. We bring the groceries back to the hotel and drive to Hampstead Heath where Clare, Linda and Joke [Weiterlesen]

The sun is shining again and it’s nice and warm. A beautiful shopping day! We park behind Selfridges and visit the large department store. Gabi has some make-up products on her shopping list, and as always, we visit the overwhelming shoe galleries on the second floor.
