We start early to catch our train. After yesterday’s terror attacks in London, there’s a lot of police around and some of the London bridges are closed. Unfortunately, our satnav app still wants to guide us over them. In the end, we have to make quite a detour and cross Blackwall Tunnel to get to the southern side of the Thames and in the direction of Folkestone.

There’s already a lot going on at the Eurotunnel terminal. They take security seriously – which is good, obviously, but makes for a rather lenghty traffic jam.

In the end, we just make it onto our train which leaves towards France shortly before eleven.

35 minutes (plus one hour that we loose because of the time difference) we arrive at the Calais terminal and find ourselves on the French motorway a bit later. Where we overtake a Noble M600 sports car (which was going really slow).

We make good progress, but we’re driving slower than on the way here and therefore will be on the road longer. The weather once again spoils us with blue sky and cute clouds.

In the early evening, we finally see the first ‘Basel’ sign behind Strasbourg. We cross the border with Switzerland at 7.20 pm and successfully convince a mobile border control that we have nothing to declare.

One hour later, we descend onto Bern and reach our flat minutes later. Home sweet home!

In eleven days, we have made 2,908 kilometres. Our holidays were beautiful, diversified and really relaxing. Now we enjoy being back at home. 🙂
