30 October 2014: Basingstoke and Frankenstein
After a very relaxing night at the hotel, yesterday’s long journey is almost forgotten. We start our holidays slowly with some shopping. Together with Caroline and Jack, we’re visiting Festival Place shopping centre in Basingstoke. We buy first things for Christmas, resist the urge to buy lots of things no-one needs, but for a brain mould for next Halloween before having lunch at Giraffe.
After even more shopping at the huge centre, we treat ourselves to a Shakeaway shake. I have a Kinder Bueno, Maltesers and minstrels shake blended with milk and vanilla ice cream. Delicious!! 🙂
We need to be quick in the evening. We have dinner at Nando’s (sorry, no photos) before heading to the cinema. For a theatre performance of ‘Frankenstein’. The National Theatre recorded the performance some years ago and show it in several cinemas annually, thus enabling everyone to enjoy this cultural event. What a great idea!
Actually, we’ve seen the performance already some weeks ago in Basel. However, the cinema employees were stupid and showed the wrong performance. You see, the two actors who play Frankenstein and his creature take turns and play both roles. We were only interested in one version – #FrankenBatch. We’re happy we’ve seen it now after all. And liked it a lot better than the other version.
