Wednesday, 13 November 2019: Liberty, Carnaby Street, Regent Street

Today we visit Liberty, one of our two favourite department stores in London. They always have the most beautiful Christmas department. And there are new exciting objects to discover each time we’re here. And it is very beautiful how the rooms are decorated.

A very special highlight awaits us on the second floor: the Liberty department store made from Lego! A Lego artist has used more than 100,000 bricks to recreate the building. On the back there’s a view into the interior, and the individual departments are incredibly well represented. The many loving details are simply wonderful.

After Liberty, we walk down Carnaby Street. This year’s Christmas lights draw attention to the pollution of the oceans.

Then we have lunch at Wagamama’s. Gabi likes to order several starters: Gyoza, Tori Kara Age chicken pieces, and bang bang cauliflower. I try the new ramen noodle soup and am very happy with it.

Freshly strengthened we work our way up Regent Street and then drive towards Leicester Square. There we marvel at the really beautiful Christmas market in the park.

A visit to the large Lego shop is also a must. It suddenly got dark when we get back outside! We walk to our other favourite department store Fortnum & Mason, which is illuminated in red light, disguised as an Advent calendar. The shop windows are incredibly nicely decorated, with cats preparing everything for Christmas, for example adding the bubbles to the champagne, or making Yule Logs.

Now a visit to the Japan Centre and a take-away from a Katsu Curry restaurant which is currently very popular, then we make our way back to the hotel.
