Monday, 11 November 2019: On to London!

Today we leave Aldershot and drive on to London, where we’ll stay until Saturday. Driving there is very pleasant – even if we have the feeling that our satnav system leads us on a different way than usual. But we follow another white Evoque with Black Pack for quite a long time which makes me  happy. And we also spot a Lamborghini Aventador in the city.

So we check in to our hotel and bring our belongings into our room. We always stay in this hotel near Euston, King’s Cross and St. Pancras stations when we come by car, because they let us park in the delivery zone behind the hotel, which is locked with a gate during the night.

Then we drive to Camden Town. Their Kerb market has many market stalls that offer a wide variety of freshly prepared food. We’re especially amazed by the chefs who combine food from different cultures to create a Yorkshire Burrito, for example. We also order such a fusion dish: a curry burger with a lamb jalfrezi patty and an onion bhajji on top. It tastes absolutely fantastic!

After lunch, we stroll through the market halls of Camden Town and discover a café that offers griddled cookie dough: a kind of soft, warm cookie with a scoop of freshly made ice cream. Super yummy!

From here we drive on to the still new and trendy area behind King’s Cross. We also pass some workshops of an arts and design college belonging to the University of London, with students that are extremely creative. Very impressive!

Since our last visit, the Samsung-Center at the top of the Lewis Cubitt complex has opened and we have a look inside. We didn’t know that Samsung also makes ovens and fridges! And look at that giant TV screen for the wall! Samsung simply calls it “The Wall”. It’s a modular screen that is assembled to whichever size. The one in here is about 6 metres wide by two and a half metres high. That would fit our living room wall perfectly! 😉

Back at the hotel, we have to realize that the wifi problem we encountered this afternoon has still not been solved: Apparently, our nearest wifi router has failed, so we have no internet connection in our room. That’s incredibly annoying! We report this and then walk to King’s Cross train station to buy something at Leon’s for dinner. I had been looking forward to eating another box of their Moroccan meatballs for a long time.
