Saturday, 4 May 2019: BEA fair and epilogue
Before our holidays are officially over, we visit the BEA fair today. The exhibition for trade, agriculture and industry will only started last week and will only continue until tomorrow, and so far we have hardly missed a year. We are mainly interested in the culinary offer and the small animals.
Today we are also here because of a special exhibition for the 50th anniversary of the first moon landing. But this one is quite disappointing. A lecture is currently taking place in a large, dark room (which you can’t enter when a lecture is going on), and next to it there is just a café, an astronaut photo to look through (see photo), information about a special stamp launched by the Swiss Post, and a few tables on which children can make drawings of space, astronauts und space ships and hang them on the wall.
The small animals give their all! We especially adore the fluffy chicks and the pink piglets! And there’s an area where birds are allowed to fly. We like the small pond in there, in which the ducks and geese visibly feel comfortable. But also the hares and chickens seem to be doing well.
At the Bernese bakers’ stand, we buy Berliner pastry and hazelnut croissants, which we take with us to Gabi’s mother and sister. We usually bring donuts over from the UK. But as we didn’t drive home directly this time, that wasn’t possible unfortunately. They wouldn’t have stayed fresh.
In the evening it starts to snow, and on the way home the flakes get thicker and thicker. Fortunately it is always nice and warm in our apartment. So we make ourselves comfortable on the sofa – together with White Chocolate, which Sheridan brought for Gabi. From now on the Missouri plush chicken looks over Gabi’s shoulder.
May the 4th sounds like the greeting from the Star Wars movies: May the Fourth (instead of Force) be with you. Today’s Star Wars Day photo officially marks the end of our holidays. Thanks for reading our travel blog and thus participating in our holidays.
