Friday 30 October 2015: First day in London

Today, we’re meeting Swiss friends at Piccadilly Circus: It’s their very first visit to London and we’ll show them around a bit. From the advertising screens and the Eros statue, we head for Chinatown and Leicester Square where a lot of film premieres take place. It’s not far to Trafalgar Square and the Admiral Nelson Column. We have lunch at The Sherlock Holmes pub: fish and chips. There’s nothing more British! We then stroll to the Thames where we have a great view of the London Eye and some impressive buildings along the river.

Back at Trafalgar Square, we say goodbye to our friends. They head down the Mall to see Buckingham Palace while we have to vacate the parking spot where we’re parked. We find another parking spot and do some shopping.

Then, we drive to the Barbican theatre to meet some more friends. They have been queueing at the stage door for hours in the hope for a photo with Benedict Cumberbatch and maybe an autograph. We have dinner at the theatre’s restaurant and chat some more with them. It’s still an hour until the actors leave and we’re tired. So we drive back to the hotel and get to sleep.
