Friday 13 November 2015: Bristol

We allow ourselves a slow start in Bristol, get up late and have pancakes and bacon for breakfast at Frankie & Benny’s.

Afterwards, we drive around the university area where Gabi got her master’s diploma as a translator. There are mostly normal-sized buildings in Bristol and the uni resp. the School of Modern Languages is no exception. We drive over a suspension bridge that is higher up than we’ve thought. We only realize how high up it is when we later drive underneath it. Back in the university area, we meet Marc, a former tutor and now business partner of Gabi’s who gets her translation jobs from time to time. We have tea and some cake at a bakery and rejoice in meeting each other.

Around half past three, it gets time for us to drive the last part of our journey through the UK: back to London. We arrive there at seven after an unusually relaxed drive. Gabi has booked a hotel at the southern shore of the Thames, perfect for our plans on Saturday.

We have dinner at Wagamama and even spoil ourselves with a small dessert.
