Saturday 5 May 2018: Oxford Street and Regent Street

The sun is shining again and it’s nice and warm. A beautiful shopping day! We park behind Selfridges and visit the large department store. Gabi has some make-up products on her shopping list, and as always, we visit the overwhelming shoe galleries on the second floor. The displays made of marble, cement and shoe spanners look great and on some occasions even better than the shoes on display.

In Disney Store a bit further down Oxford Street, we discover Huey, Dewey and Louie from the new Ducktales series. And an Ewok from Star Wars – characters we’ve never seen in a Disney Store before.

We have lunch at Pizza Pilgrims. Their pizzas are still among the best. And we share some tomato risotto balls.

Although we had decided never to visit toy store Hamley’s again due to the fact that it’s always overcrowded with rude tourists, overpriced and sometimes low quality, a sign that says “new Lego store” and “20 % discount” lures us in. Okay, they have some nice new displays and a corner in which kids can play with Lego bricks, but it’s mostly the same as before. And even after the discount, the sets cost more than in other Lego stores. Don’t visit Hamley’s.

Liberty remains our favourite place to visit. The building and how they display their ever-changing merchandise alone is worth visiting. They have wonderful collections as well as unique pieces that amaze us. We’d love to take everything with us.

A steak and a roast made of clay… hollow, but without any opening… wow!

After many more stores up and down Regent Street, we treat ourselves to a cookie from Ben’s cookies and then recover in the hotel.

In the evening, we don’t feel like going out. So I get a burger and cajun French Fries at Five Guys which we eat in our room.
