Saturday 28 April 2018: Strolling around Bluewater
Today, we meet Caroline, Peter and Jack at Bluewater shopping centre. We like to spend one day here during each of our holidays to the UK. As always, we begin at the Lego store. They have a lot of new Lego sets on display, as Doctor Strange’s sanctum sanctorum and the Hulkbuster from the new Avengers “Infinity War” movie. Or the ship in the bottle from the Lego Ideas series in which fans suggest new Lego sets. They also have the huge Millennium Falcon. If you haven’t watched the video of my godson and me building it together, watch it here.
Hunger sets in soon. We enjoy eating at the Mexican restaurant chain Wahaca and come here often. We order the set Wahaca selection of small plates with incredible food. It’s a slightly different selection every time. We leave enough room for some churros for dessert which Gabi and I share with pleasure.
We then continue to stroll around Bluewater which has become quite crowded by now. We think the giant wall piano is very funny. It covers a wall where a store had been. Young and old visitors enjoy the piano alike. We then admire the Home Pod, Apple’s new loudspeaker which is not available in Switzerland yet. We’d love to take it with us straight away!
We arrive at Krispy Kreme for a little something around 4pm. They produce donuts here in Bluewater and I love watching their “Doughnut Theatre”. The machine moves the dough pieces around the proofing cupboard, slides them into the deep fryer and turns them over.
On that sugar rush, we manage some more hours until we made it through the whole shopping centre. Before driving back to the hotel, we have a quick dinner at Pret with a ham and cheese toastie and a ham and cheese croissant for Gabi – the one I usually get for breakfast when we’re in London.
