We start off at 10.30am and enjoy the beautiful weather. It’s sunny and warm, but not too warm to spend the day in the car.

We make good progress and cross the border with France one hour after our departure. We take it a bit slower than other times and arrive at the Eurotunnel terminal at half past six. Only to learn that the train service had been disrupted and that our train will now depart much later. That’s not what we had hoped for.

Our train now leaves at 8.20pm. Quickly as always, we cross the Channel and drive onto the British motorway just as the sun sets. We arrive in Aldershot at around 10pm (we gained an hour due to the time difference) and head straight to the hotel.
