Sunday, 19 November 2023: Epilogue
Wow, the journey back yesterday took quite a long time. I was immensely glad that LucY drove most of the way on autopilot. Especially when it was raining heavily and dark, I could barely see our lane. LucY, on the other hand, is doing brilliant in the dark and sees much better with its six cameras. But we also have Patrick Stewart to thank: He did a marvellous job of keeping us awake with his autobiography as an audio book. And it’s a long one: although we listened to it on the way there and back, it’s far from over! He is only about 25 years old at the moment and talks about his first supporting roles with the Royal Shakespeare Company, long before Star Trek. There’s still a lot left to listen to!
It’s nice to have our own bed and shower again. As we almost always do, we visit Gabi’s mum the day after our return journey to eat the donuts we brought with us. I was quite surprised when I bought them yesterday: instead of the boxes of 12, Krispy Kreme now only has boxes of 9! But that’s definitely enough. As always, here are the before and after pictures.
And we have been shopping! But we bought – or so we think – not quite as much as during other trips to the UK. And yes, three quarters of our purchases are crips and sweets. All of these things are not available in Switzerland and will probably last us until our next trip. Not in the picture are Gabi’s new winter jacket and my leather jacket and some gifts.
