Monday, 9 May 2022: A new friend

We drive past Stonehenge (we have already been there twice) on our way to the south-western corner of England. It’s a bit weird that the road passes by so close to it. We stop at a petrol station where they built a roll of plastic bags into the pump nozzle to protect your hands. We should have these everywhere!

We head to Taunton where we’re invited to a good friend’s house. She is as careful as we are when it comes to the pandemic and all of us take a lateral flow test before. I’m more than delighted to see how the very shy and nervous Mickey makes friends with me very quickly! Ollie, another friends who is here as well, tells me that it took her three visits until Mickey allowed her to pet him.

We enjoy the time with Mickey and our two friends a lot. These chats and spending time together is really what we missed the most during the pandemic. In the evening, we don’t drive back but booked a hotel in Taunton. Tomorrow, we’re off to nearby Bristol.
