Tuesday, 31 October 2017: Halloween
We sleep in on our second to last day in London. That feels good as the all of the fresh air yesterday made us really sleepy. We head into town around noon and meet Sheridan, Clare and Amy at the Hotel Chocolat branch we had these amazing hot chocolates last week. They are eager to try them, too.
Then, we go to Fortnum & Mason where we could easily shop every day. Gabi buys some tea and biscuits but not the gin she had in mind. We were allowed to taste it and it didn’t taste of the honey we were promised.
Afterwards and after a stop at Waterstones, we slowly make our way back to Sheridan’s hotel at Seven Dials to meet Ollie. She was able to leave work early and came to see us once more. Then it’s time to say goodbye. We visit some more shops and get some cake for tonight. Everything is Halloween themed in the cake shop and some people around town and in some of the stores are dressed for the occasion.
We have an early dinner and share a butter chicken grand thali at Masala Zone. Which we usually do on our trips to the UK.
After dinner, we drive back to the hotel and get ready for the final of my favourite baking show “The Great British Bake Off” in which 16 amateur bakers compete in ever-changing challenges. Each episode (each week), one of the bakers is being sent home. In tonight’s final, the three remaining contestants bake breads, gingerbread and a showstopper cake with different layers. In the end, the winner is announced. We’re happy with the outcome, although our (everyone’s!) favourite Liam had to leave some weeks ago.
