Saturday, 28 October 2017: Sherlocked Day 1
We slept well but wake up in a freezing room we haven’t been satisfied with anyway. The Hilton room is far worse than any budget hotel we’ve stayed in during the last five years. Very disappointing. We barely had a choice here, though, as the convention we’re attending takes place in this hotel.
After breakfast, we start the ‘Sherlocked’ Convention with a photo with Lou Brealey who plays Molly. We later have her sign the photo.
Then, we take a photo with Una Stubbs as the legendary Mrs Hudson. She signs it later, too.
The next item on our schedule: the ‘young at heart’ talk with Una and the children who played the young Holmes siblings in a flashback. They talk about the filming and answer questions from the audience.
After an autograph from policeman Anderson and a Q&A session with production designer Arwel we find some time for lunch. The convention then continues with more autographs and a group photo with the producers.
We now have time to have a look at the stalls and the museum bit. A vendor has Mrs Hudson’s tea service on offer (we already own the tea pot).
The 221B door is on display as well as some of the clothes of Sherlock, Watson and other persons of the series.
We stay with the clothes and listen to Irene, Charlie and Jun talking about the items. They’re doing a great job!
Now, I have a photo with Una on the living room set. Wow. That’s today’s longest queue I guess! Una is the heart and soul of the show and the biggest star as none of the leading actors showed up (Benedict is occupied with filming; Andrew attends a comic con, a fact that no-one understands).
We’re done for the day and really knackered, so we have a nap. Then, I get a chicken wrap and chips at Nando’s for dinner. We watch the first episode of the new Stranger Things season while we eat it in our room.
