Sunday 15 November 2015: Driving back home
We leave our hotel at 9.30 am and head to the nearest Pret-à-Manger to get some food for our journey. We then drive eastbound and through Blackwall Tunnel underneath the Thames out of the city. It’s Sunday morning and the roads are almost empty so we make very good progress.
We arrive at the Eurotunnel’s Folkestone terminal on time. Check-in and border controls are a lot smoother than expected. We were afraid that there might be a long queue and thorough checks from the French border authorities. Eve better! We’re in the train shortly after. Pole position. Yeah, this is how we do it!
The journey underneath the Channel takes 35 minutes and we’re on the French motorway in no time. It’s really windy so we driver slower than usual. We sum up our great trip and listen to audio books to pass the time.
At 8.45 pm, roughly seven and a half hours after leaving the train in Calais, we arrive in Ostermundigen. We’re happy to be back at home.
Wow: we’ve made almost 3.500 km during this trip to the UK.
