4.3.2011, Friday: Disneyland Paris and coming home

After a freezing night in the hotel, we pack up as fast as possible and drive to Disneyland. We’re spoiled with a beautiful, sunny day. Together with the hot chocolate and improvised breakfast, we finally get warm again. We move counterclockwise through the park; Discoveryland, Fantasyland, Adventureland and Frontierland, have lunch at the Cowboy Cookout Barbeque barn (not as good as it used to be) and change to the Studios.

But not without visiting “our” stone first:

There’s enough time left for the Studio Tram Tour before the Stars & Cars parade. Lots of heroes and villains drive up in their respective cars and sign autographs while their chauffeurs are dancing. Afterwards, we visit the new area, the Toy Story Playland, which turns out to be really great. Then, it’s finally time to get back to the car.

Traffic jam. What a great start to the journey home. But it’s better soon when we reach the toll motorway in direction of Dijon. A perfectly smooth surface and few traffic gives us the opportunity to catch up on lost time. The TomTom iPhone app is at its best, suggesting faster routes and warning dependably of speed traps. Unfortunately, it’s difficult to find a good service area to have dinner – it’s nothing more than petrol station stores. We finally decide to drive through to Basle for a dinner break at BurgerKing.

Shortly before midnight, we’re back at home in Lyss. Home sweet home. We’ve made 2.696 car kilometers in these eight days. And are proud of ourselves to have mastered all of that so well. 🙂
