Thursday, 12 September 2024: A stunning view from Tintagel

Today we continue in the footsteps of King Arthur and Avalon, and visit Tintagel. We start early and treat ourselves to a McDonald’s breakfast with a Mighty McMuffin and pancakes while LucY charges its battery. We also have a quick car wash before setting off. The French flies finally have to go! The journey to Tintagel takes quite a long time, but is really beautiful! [Weiterlesen]

Wednesday, 11 September 2024: Glorious Glastonbury

Today we explore Glastonbury with Catherine. The place is not only known for what is probably the largest music festival in the world, but also as the mythical Avalon and where King Arthur is buried – a claim that the monks of the abbey used as early as the 12th century to ensure that it became a place of pilgrimage and thus they had enough [Weiterlesen]

Tuesday, 10 September 2024: An unexpected Oliver

The day starts well: with the news that both motions in the Grand Council have been adopted – the one on charging stations in full and the other on disabled parking spaces at least in part. That’s something to celebrate! Today we are travelling to Taunton, stopping off at the Haynes Motor Museum on the way. The ‘Haynes Manuals’ are a firm favourite across the [Weiterlesen]

We walk through the aisles together and are quite [Weiterlesen]

Sunday, 8 September 2024: A house call on the south coast

We start the day well rested. And while I go to the supermarket for drinks and the bakery for something for breakfast, LucY charges in the car park. This gives us an extra 50 miles of range. We then set off for Portsmouth on the south coast of England. We meet Clare and Dan in the Gunwharf Quays Outlet Mall, a large open-air shopping centre [Weiterlesen]

Saturday, 7 September 2024: A glimpse into the future

We’ll take it easy today. Or rather: I still have a few administrative things to do at the hotel. On Monday, two motions will be discussed in the Grand Council, the parliament of the Canton of Berne, for which I came up with the idea (people with disabilities need to be able to use public electric car chargers as well, which is not the case [Weiterlesen]

Friday, 6 September 2024: We’re off to the UK!

These holidays suddenly came very quickly after a very busy last two weeks. But we are looking forward to spending two weeks in England with lots of friends. We set off at 9.20am and make good progress. An hour later, we cross the border into France in Basel and follow the signs to Strasbourg. We are only slowed down by a Lamborghini that is only [Weiterlesen]
