We say hello to Peter and Jack before driving to Portsmouth with Caroline. We’ve been here before (in 2013 and 2014). We park at Gunwharf Quays designer outlet with lots of stores and restaraunts. We take a look at the beach first as it’s very exciting for Swiss who live in a land-locked country. Caroline knows: There are always some Pokémon to catch around here. [Weiterlesen]
It rains rather heavily. But it’s the first time since we arrived in Britain and we’ve been more than lucky with the weather so far. We had thought about visiting the London Aquarium but with the rain, a lot of people will be there as well. And it feels a bit weird to go and watch more water in the tanks while so much water [Weiterlesen]
There’s more shopping today!! But we don’t just buy, buy, buy but rather stroll around our favourite stores. Liberty of London is always worth a visit. There’s something new to discover each time. Everything is presented beautifully and also carefully chosen. Here are some impressions from Liberty: We have a late lunch at Masala Zone. The restaurant has been refurbished since our last visit and [Weiterlesen]
Today we head to the British Museum to visit their special exhibition ‘Sunken Cities’. The British Museum is always worth visiting an we haven’t been here for more than ten years. We get a time slot to enter the special exhibition. Until then, we stroll around the rest of the museum with finds from Central America and Egypt. Central America from the Maya and Aztec [Weiterlesen]
We meet Clare and Amy for lunch in a kind of Italian tapas restaurant where we order several small plates to share. After lunch, we head to the Wyndham Theatre where we’ll watch the matinée performance of ‘No Man’s Land’. The play is about two elderly litterateurs in the 1970s who come across each other and only realize later – when they’re not drunk for [Weiterlesen]
Today, we’re hitting Oxford Street and Selfridges. Gabi knows exactly what she’s after and finds everything on her wish list easily. We make good progress and have time to just stroll around and have a look soon. In the Christmas section for instance. We have all started the day separately but come back together one by one. Ollie is the first to arrive at Selfridges. [Weiterlesen]
From the outskirts of London, we’re heading right into the city centre today. We’ve got a hotel near Kings Cross Station for the next couple of days where we have stayed before. All together, we visit the National Portrait Gallery just some steps from Trafalgar Square. We already passed it several times but visiting it just never fitted into our schedule. The gallery is beautiful [Weiterlesen]
The second day of our ‘Sherlocked’ Convention begins with a photoshoot with Sue Vertue and Steven Moffat, the series’ producers. Then, we listen to a talk with the composers of the music of Sherlock. They made great impression yesterday and also today, they are funny and very charismatic. They love each time they hear their music, especially if they don’t expect it, like from an [Weiterlesen]
We spend all of today at the ‘Sherlocked’ Convention, after the BBC TV series ‘Sherl0ck’ with Benedict Cumberbatch and Martin Freeman. We meet again lots of good friends, make new ones, listen to talks between a host and actors of the show, get autographs and have photoshoots with people who contributed to the series. The two componists are especially friendly! They shake hands, introduce themselves [Weiterlesen]
We slept very well and have recovered from the long drive. We meet Clare, Linda, Sheridan with husband and baby and Amy for breakfast at Giraffe at Westfield Stratford City Shopping Centre where our hotel is situated. And I like my breakfast quite a lot: the fried eggs, the bacon… somehow everything tastes better than at home. After breakfast, we stroll through the shops for [Weiterlesen]
