Thursday, 7 November 2019: Bluewater Shopping Centre

Today we visit the Bluewater Shopping Centre. Here we like to spend a day doing some shopping on almost every trip. And always park near the Lego shop which we visit first.

I am especially curious about the latest, second largest Lego Star Wars set that is the Devastator, Darth Vader’s Star Destroyer. It’s really big! And wide! And although it looks nice, it doesn’t offer as many details as the Millennium Falcon. P.S. I didn’t buy it.

At the Pick’n’mix wall, there’s again a very random mixture of single bricks to buy. But an exciting one as there are cobwebs and spiders, which are probably still left over from Halloween. If you want to build a ghost house with lots of spiders and webs, you’ll find them here! P.S. I didn’t buy them.

A week ago, Lego launched a minifigure made of wood, which is already offered here. Lego is returning to its beginnings: Lego founder Ole Kirk Christiansen started almost 90 years ago with wooden toys. The wooden figure is five times as big as a minifigure and consists of pieces of wood glued together. Apart from the (only stuck on) yellow hands it is immovable. I like it… but it’s not worth the £110 it costs. P.S. I didn’t buy it either.

It takes as quite long to finish the upper floor, before we eat some lunch. We were both looking forward to Wahaca, a British-Mexican restaurant chain. As almost always, we order the pre-defined selection of plates with various small things to share. Almost every dish is new, and we especially like the crispy cauliflower bites with the light green dip sauce. But also the tacos, quesadillas, croquets and everything else is really excellent.

With our stomachs full, we take the lift to the lower floor. Now something sweet would be nice. The Lindt shop might just have the right thing. We are angry about the much bigger assortment over here! In Switzerland, we basically only get the red milk chocolate Lindor balls. Over here in the UK, nine varieties are on offer, and more to choose from on the other wall. With Lindt being a Swiss manufacturer, you would expect the opposite, or at least the same offer in Switzerland!

So we finish the lower floor and take Pret sandwiches with us to the hotel.
