This morning we meet Caroline and are very happy to see her again. We start with a breakfast at Costa, where I can’t resist the little polar bear chocolate cake.

Then we go to the Costco across the street, where we have been with Caroline before. They have large packs… of everything! You can buy croissants by the dozen for example, or whole barrels of olive oil. It looks similar to the self-service hall at IKEA, with huge racks, even with refrigerators, washing machines and big screen TVs! I am impressed by it every time.

Then we have lunch at the Costco cafe. There, they offer pizzas as big as wagon wheels and hearty hot dogs, of which Gabi and I share one, with chili and cheddar. Mmmmmh!

Caroline has to work in the afternoon and we decide to go to Guildford. We park at our usual place and are sad to see the Jamie’s Italian restaurant closed and under reconstruction. We spent many wonderful evenings together with Peter and Caroline in here. Anyway, in the old town, there seem to be more shops empty than usual.

So we walk up and down the streets and see a lot of funny and interesting things. As with us in Switzerland, many shops have already started to sell their Christmas stuff. The British just have the most extravagant Christmas tree baubles!

At Antropology, as always, we like all of the furniture and interior decoration items they have on offer. We gaze at the drawer handles and coat hooks for the wardrobe.

In one of the streets there are astonishingly many real estate agents. We see one or the other properties that we would like. 😉

As the hunger slowly becomes noticeable again, we eat a Krispy Kreme donut (too bad, the shop has closed down as well, only a stall in the Friary shopping centre remains) and make plans for the evening.

In Switzerland, we simply didn’t get the chance to watch the latest “Shaun the Sheep” movie. Because – classified by the cinemas as a children’s movie – it was only shown dubbed in German everywhere. And we really can’t stand dubbed movies. So the cinema in Aldershot it is! With a big bag of popcorn and a big drink, we soon sit in front of the screen and wait for the movie to start.

“Farmageddon” is incredibly funny and really well made! We are amazed at the many names of the people who contributed to it in the end credits. That’s a completely different caliber than the very first Wallace & Gromit short films by Aardman. And I’d say that they have surpassed themselves again.

Then we get a takeaway dinner at Nando’s, on which we feast in our hotel room: Big, juicy pieces of chicken from the grill, chips, corn on the cob, coleslaw and garlic bread.
