Tuesday, 15 May 2012: First evening in Key West

When going for dinner in Key West, you are spoiled for choice. The nearby Duval Street area overflows with restaurants and entertainment. I am after a place that is a little less touristy and decide to look for a restaurant I had read a lot about previously called ‘Blue Heaven’. Thomas gets out his Key West outfit and we soon find that the restaurant is only a few minutes away on foot. This place is really something you need to see with your own eyes. A beautiful, leafy courtyard filled with twinkling fairy lights and little candle lit tables which is brimming with atmosphere. An excellent singer-songwriter and her banjo player really set the mood with Janis Joplin and many more. The food is absolutely delicious with a Carribean twist. Thomas and I go for Jerk Chicken with rice, black beans and corn bread while my father pork tenderloin in a mango sauce with sweet potato mash. The dishes are both absolutely brilliant as is the staff.
