It’s exactly 20 years since I first set foot on Florida ground. In 1992, I was visiting the Sunshine State with my parents and sisters for the first time. This was during our second trip to the USA that started in the mid-west (Albuquerque, Holbrook, Chinle, Moab, Cortez, Durango, Taos, Santa Fe) before continuing to Florida for two weeks.

Seven years later, in 1999, I flew to Florida a second time. With Florian, one of my best friends. We drove around in a sports car for eight days while Gabi was waiting for me at (her parents’) home. I only knew her for some months and can’t remember whether I booked the trip before or after we became a couple.

Another seven years later, Gabi and I spent our honeymoon in Florida. And there was still plenty new places to go to and discover so we didn’t get bored at all.

The same goes for our 2012 holiday to Florida. Besides, we plan to revisit our favourite places. Considering my earlier visits to Florida, we’re a year early (seven year periods), but who cares. It’s now my fourth time in Florida and my eighth trip to the USA. However, I’ve never been to New Orleans before, where we’ll spend some days before flying back home.
