25.2.2011, Friday morning: On the ferry from Calais to Dover

After too short a night we arrive at the ferry terminal early. We are given a lane number were we queue until the ferry arrives. Cars and lorries get out first. Then, we are allowed to drive onto the ramp and into the ferry and park left and right of the middle part with stairs and lifts.

During the 90 minute ride, we can enjoy ourselves in the onboard lounges, bars, restaurants, seating areas, duty free shops and game arcades.

Time goes by very quickly. Through tons of fog, the Dover terminal is hardly visible. But we’re sure the captain knows where we are going thanks to radar and GPS. We get back in the car and wait for the ferry doors to open.

United Kingdom, here we come! 🙂
