Tuesday 27 September 2016: A little bit of shopping
Today, we’re hitting Oxford Street and Selfridges. Gabi knows exactly what she’s after and finds everything on her wish list easily. We make good progress and have time to just stroll around and have a look soon. In the Christmas section for instance.
We have all started the day separately but come back together one by one. Ollie is the first to arrive at Selfridges. We have lunch together – Indian – before heading to the shoe gallery.
Later, Clare, Amy, Sheridan, Guy and Baby Rowan join us. After some more shopping at Selfridges, we walk towards our favourite department store Liberty. We want to show the Americans the beautiful Christmas section in here that just opened again recently. The store looks great from the outside and the inside and we could just buy everything in here.
We find a table at the Liberty Café and have some cake. Ollie enjoys Baby Rowan a last time before we have to say our goodbyes later. I order the carrot cake which is completely different from the Swiss carrot cake but very yummy anyway with a lot of Christmas spices in it. Gabi likes here maccaroons too.
We’ve got floors three and four ahead of us. There are the famous Liberty fabrics in the huge haberdashery section. And of course the Christmas section with baubles for every taste, from classic to playful, with black cabs with a Christmas tree on the roof, or all kinds of animals.
It’s finally time to say goodbye to Ollie, Sheridan, Guy and Rowan. We hope to see them all again soon. We’ll meet Clare and Amy again tomorrow. We head back to Oxford Street where our car is parked near Selfridges, and drive back to our hotel.
A short while later, I’m on the road again on foot to get something for dinner. I walk past St Pancras Station which looks even prettier at night.
Half an hour later, we eat our ‘Honest’ burgers with chips and different sauces while watching Gilmore Girls on Netflix.
