Sunday 25 September 2016: Sherlocked day two

The second day of our ‘Sherlocked’ Convention begins with a photoshoot with Sue Vertue and Steven Moffat, the series’ producers.

Then, we listen to a talk with the composers of the music of Sherlock. They made great impression yesterday and also today, they are funny and very charismatic. They love each time they hear their music, especially if they don’t expect it, like from an open car window.

Now it’s time to queue for a photo with Benedict Cumberbatch, the star of the series. A helicopter has just dropped him off outside. Inside, the tention rises. However, everyone is queueing really disciplined. Now Ben is in a great mood and very relaxed. He wants to do this. We can feel the joy he gets from all the fans. And he’s got a word for everyone that comes by for the photoshoot. I shouldn’t wear the coat for long, he says. ‘It’s getting hot in there, trust me!’

Right next to the photoshoot area, the talk with Benedict’s parents has already begun. Both are incredibly friendly and chat away. Father Timothy advice to prospective actors is: ‘Learn your lines and don’t trip over the furniture.’ And mother Wanda replies to the question whether she would like Sherlock’s deduction powers: ‘I can’t even text!’

After the talk, we’re heading over to the photoshoot with Louise Brealey who is as cute and cuddly as last year. In the afternoon, we get her autograph and let her sign the photo.

Next, we listen to the talk with the costume designers. Charlie and Irene love cosplaying and are always on the hunt for clothes that are as identic as possible with the screen-used ones. They sew and adapt them too. They do the interview and love every information they get. We also spend the talk eating the sandwiches that we’ve brought along.

Now is a good time to queue for Louise Brealey’s autograph. She loves taking her time to chat with the fans which is absolutely lovely but makes for a very long waiting time.

But then, I can even get a sneaky selfie with Rupert who’s signing autographs as well but has no fans waiting at the moment. Lovely!

There are only a few minutes to spend with our friends before queueing for the important talks on the main stage. First a talk with Louise Brealey, then one with Benedict Cumberbatch. Everyone has waited for that one and we can feel the pressure on the organisers. It’s great that we’re allowed to stay in the room and keep our seats.

Benedict is as charming as always. He’s very relaxed and enjoys himself. And most importantly, he’s not ill as last year when he came anyway.

After the two talks, we stay for the last event of Sherlocked, a talk with the producers. They are funny as hell. Mark Gatiss just loves to coquet with the audience. In the end, they reveal the titles of next series’ first two episode: ‘The Six Thatchers’ and ‘The Lying Detective’.

While leaving the room, we meet Charlie and Irene once again. They have changed again and now cosplay Sherlock as best man and bridesmaid Janine from John and Mary’s wedding and Sherlock’s pretend girlfriend. I just have to have a photo with Charlie and the both of them. Irene even admire my shirt as it’s extremely similar to the original one. She’s the expert! 🙂

We enjoy a last dinner together and have a splendid time. It’s a pity that we have to say goodbye to some of them as they have to go back to work or travel back home tomorrow while we stay another two weeks.
