Wednesday, 21 October 2026: Sheep tapestry, futuristic Jaguar and last shopping trip

Whilst the whole of Britain is marvelling at the Bayeux Tapestry at the British Museum (with interruptions due to the unexpectedly high number of visitors), we’re taking a look at the “Baa-ewe” version featuring Shaun the Sheep at the Natural History Museum – to tie in with the latest film, The Beast of Mossy Bottom. Unlike the 70-metre-long original, it measures just seven metres, but it’s really lovingly crafted and brimming with detail.

We then pop in the dinosaurs exhibition for a moment – I’m wearing the matching rain jacket after all – abd leave the museum afterwards. Even though it’s not the weekend, there are an incredible number of people here. And countless school classes with children in their respective school uniforms. It’s a real art not to lose sight of any pupils in all this.

From dinosaurs, we move on to big cats: Jaguar unveiled a completely new car recently, the Type 01, which the car manufacturer says marks the start of a new era. Its futuristic look and rather unusual shape aren’t to everyone’s taste, but I really like it. So I’m taking the opportunity to visit the showroom that’s been created especially for it. The car looks brilliant in real life too, but it’s incredibly impractical. It’s five and a half metres long and has a huge bonnet, which serves no practical purpose. As a purely electric car, there’s no internal combustion engine underneath, nor is there any storage space. The boot at the rear is tiny. The interior is cramped too, with little space to get in, limited legroom in the back seats and a spine running right through the centre of the cabin from front to back. That’s precisely why it was exciting to experience the car for myself. It’s also a shame that the striking colours are limited to just ten cars each.

Now we’re heading to the Westfield shopping centre to spend the rest of the day here out of the rain. First, we’ll charge LucY at the charging point so we have enough power for the first leg of the journey home. Whilst we’re waiting, I’ll pop into the Lego Store for a quick look. After that, we’ll have lunch at Wahaca and order quesadillas, tacos and other small dishes at the Mexican restaurant.

After visiting lots more shops and picking up the last few items on our list, we head back to the hotel. We’ve also brought back two small dishes for a light evening meal after our big lunch. We pack our bags and go to bed early.
