Thursday, 19 September 2024: Westfield and getting ready for the journey home

On our last full day in England, we sleep in. Today we stay here, e.g. instead of driving into Central London, we wander through the Westfield Shopping Centre, in the middle of which our hotel is located. The hotel, which is different from our usual one, is proving to be very good so far. We especially enjoy having a mini-fridge.

We walk up and down each floor and visit the shops that interest us. For lunch, Gabi buys a Korean garlic bread, which she has had her eye on for days, while I treat myself to a burger from Five Guys.

We don’t buy much, mainly sweets and gifts to take home. In the afternoon, we treat ourselves to filled churros from the food truck right outside the hotel entrance.

Towards the evening, we look around for a charging point for LucY. However, none of the three multi-storey car parks belonging to the shopping centre seem to have charging stations. We search in vain. That’s really bad and pretty backward. So I drive to another car park two streets away to charge. Now LucY is ready for tomorrow.

For dinner, we think carefully about what we would like to have for our last meal in the UK. Gabi has discovered a chicken shop, Wing Stop, that she didn’t know about before. She orders chicken nuggets with two different coatings, as well as ranch dressing and sweet potato chips. I have another ramen noodle soup from Wagamama. For dessert, we bought delicious Colin the Caterpillar chocolate mousses.

We have a quiet evening with full bellies and prepare for the journey home.
