Thursday, 2 November 2017: Driving back home

We drive back home today! After stops at Pret a Manger for sandwiches and Krispy Kreme for a box of donuts we’re off. There’s a lot of traffic out of town so we miss our check-in slot at the Channel tunnel terminal in Folkestone by some minutes. This wouldn’t be so bad if we weren’t put on the next but one train only.

I use the 35 minutes train ride to eat my sandwich. That’s easier than eating while driving.

At 1:15pm local time, we arrive in France. Apart from the later train, we also lost an hour due to the time difference. And there still are all of the construction sites with one lane traffic and a highly reduced speed limit.

We only cross the border with Switzerland around 8pm and arrive in Bern at 9pm.

During our two week holiday to the UK, we have driven 3,010 km (1,870 miles) in total. Now, we enjoy being back at home.
