Sunday, 22 October 2017: Sunday Roast and full stomachs

We sleep in and then meet our lovely friend Ollie for lunch: a Sunday roast at Hawksmoor! It’s the first time we sit in the back part of the restaurant with its beautiful rounded ceiling. The tables fill up quickly. A blackboard shows the really heavy pieces of meat available today: Porterhouse 900 grams, T-Bone steak 1,1 kilograms, Rib-Eyes, Chateaubriand and some more of each cut. Everything will be eaten by tonight!

Soon our roasts arrive, with potatos, veggies, a giant yorkshire pudding, and of course gravy. I can’t imagine a better way to spend a Sunday.

After lunch, we stroll to the nearest Hotel Chocolat store. We always take some of their chocolate to Switzerland (yes we do!).

At the moment, their Autumn and Halloween collections are out and look absolutely beautiful. Thanks to Ollie who works at another branch of Hotel Chocolat, we are offered a hot chocolate with chocolate cream on top on the house. It’s just a perfect day!

We then drive to Oxford Street where we visit Primark first and then head to Lush near Oxford Street. Ollie wants to buy a bath bomb for a relaxing evening at home. We haven’t been to this branch before. The store is HUGE, on three floors, and absolutely crowded with people. It’s great to see that the perfumes that were launched 14 years ago in separate ‘B Never…’ stores while we lived in London are available again in here.

After Lush, we say goodbye to Ollie and walk back down Oxford Street. Top Shop currently has a ‘Stranger Things’ partnership going on complete with game arcade, laboratory, castle Byers and an oldschool phone that sometimes rings and gives messages from the Upside Down dimension. The second season starts on Netflix in some days! 🙂

We’re especially interested in the stores’ Christmas offers. John Lewis for example has baubles in all colours imaginable.

At Selfridges, we get two donuts for later before the stores close at 6pm. We have dinner at Wagamama – Gabi: Katsu Curry, me: ramen – before heading back to the hotel.
