Today, Jess and her father are showing us Liverpool. The city belongs to the Unesco world heritage as has a lot to offer. In the old town, there are lots of huge old buildings – museums, art galleries, theatres. It’s Remembrance Day today and people are gathering in front of St. George’s Hall (the first and second photo) for two minutes of silence in honour of the ones fallen in wars. They also have a part of last year’s poppie installation at the Tower of London.

In the harbour area, old and extremely modern buildings stand along each other. It’s museums and art museums again (there’s also a Tate Gallery). Besides, the district shows its history as an important harbour, market place and trans-shipment centre for goods and especially slaves from Africa before their journey to America. We have lunch at the Liverpool Museum café and then continue walking through town.

There’s a Beatles souvenir shop (Liverpool is the Beatle’s home town) where someone made the Beatles from Jelly Beans.

We explore the city and its shops and have a quick look at ‘Liverpool One’, an open air shopping district, before getting ready for our next stage. Driving to Cardiff in Wales proofs to be cumbersome. In spite of the many lanes, traffic on the motorway advances in walking pace only. It’s only getting better three and a half hours later when leaving Birmingham behind us. Northern England has been nothing but gridlock so far. We arrive in Cardiff at 9 in the evening where we are greated by very friendly hotel staff. We order a Pizza to the room before going to bed.
